Went to the corner 

Because 

I heard there's a rumor being told 

And I like to be there at a time when 

Years later 

One will turn to the next and say 

Do you remember how this whole thing started 

And the answer would always be 

The screen door and the grass getting so long it would steal you away 

And just then I 

Older 

Would pull out my handbag-- I carry a handbag now that's sophisticated and functional and doesn't sound like it should be called a handbag--

And I'd tease out those long blades of grass 

Yellow now 

And my story would break fresh on their ears
